The Afghanistan Defense Ribbon refers to the ribbon for the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (ACM), a U.S. military decoration awarded to service members for participation in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) or Operation Freedom's Sentinel (OFS) in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021. The ribbon's design incorporates colors representing both the U.S. and allied flags, along with a central red stripe, light blue stripes, and black stripes to symbolize the military services.  

Ribbon Design and Symbolism

Central Stripes: The central portion of the ribbon features a red, white, and blue pinstripe pattern, representing the flags of the United States and its allies. Military Colors:  To the sides of the central stripe, there are navy blue and light blue stripes to symbolize the Navy and Air Force, respectively. Outer Stripe: The broad outer stripe is a light brown or buff color, symbolizing the Afghan landscape.
