The Korea Defense Service Medal (KDSM) ribbon recognizes United States Armed Forces members who served in defense of the Republic of Korea after July 28, 1954, for a minimum of 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in the area of eligibility, or who engaged in combat or were wounded in the line of duty. The award’s ribbon features a dark green stripe representing Korea’s land, a gold stripe for excellence, a blue stripe for overseas service and peace, and a white stripe for idealism and integrity.
